2006年外国汉语教师短期研修项目申请办法

　　为帮助各国专职汉语教师提高教学水平，促进中外汉语教师在汉语教学领域的交流合作，中国教育部设立“外国汉语教师短期研修项目”。中国国家留学基金管理委员会(以下简称“留学基金委”)负责此项目的招生工作及日常事务的管理工作。

　　2006/2007学年度共提供100个奖学金名额。

　　一、申请途径及申请时间

　　申请人可通过中国驻所在国的大使馆（总领事馆），向留学基金委提出申请。亦可直接向留学基金委提出申请。受理申请截止时间为2006年4月30日。

　　二、申请人资格

　　1、须为非中国籍公民，身体健康，年龄不超过50周岁；

　　2、须为连续从事汉语教学工作三年以上、现任专职汉语教师；

　　3、须具有大学本科以上学历。

　　三、资助内容及标准

　　1、免交教学费、住宿费和基本教材费；

　　2、提供免费的紧急医疗服务；

　　3、一次性发给生活补助费2000元人民币；

　　4、参加学校统一组织的赴外地教学旅行者，旅行期间免交交通费、住宿费和餐费。

　　四、承办学校及举办时间

　　承办学校：北京语言大学、北京师范大学

　　举办时间：2006年7月7日至8月18日，其中：

　　　　　　　课堂教学时间4周： 7月7日至8月5日；

　　　　　　　教学旅行时间2周： 8月6日至8月18日。

　　五、研修内容及教学旅行

　　1、研修内容：汉语作为第二语言教学和外语教学中的语音、语法和词汇及其教学内容和方法；汉语口语、听力和阅读的教学内容和方法；汉语课堂教学理论和方法；汉语语言水平提高课；中国文化讲座；教学实习。

　　2、教学旅行：课堂教学结束后，由承办学校组织为期2周的集体教学旅行。

　　 ※ 北京语言文化大学教学旅行路线：

　　北京—西安—成都—九寨沟—卧龙熊猫保护基地—都江堰—乐山—北京

　　※ 北京师范大学教学旅行路线：

　　北京--安阳--郑州—开封—洛阳—登峰--西安--北京

　　六、申请材料

　　申请人必须如实填写和提交以下申请材料（均为一式两份）：

　　1、《外国汉语教师短期研修项目申请表》（由留学基金委统一印制），必须用中文填写；

　　2、经过公证的最高学历证明，中英文以外文本需附经公证中文或英文的译文；

　　3、校长和汉语教授的推荐信各1封，中英文以外文本需附中文或英文的译文；

　　4、所在工作单位出具的在职证明，中英文以外文本需附经公证中文或英文的译文；

　　5、来华研修计划（不少于400字），用中文书写。

　　上述申请材料应于2006年4月30日前送达留学基金委。

　　七、录取及通知

　　留学基金委对申请人提交的申请材料进行审核，安排学校进行录取，并于6月15日前将《外国汉语教师短期研修项目资助批准书》、《录取通知书》和《外国留学人员来华签证申请表》（JW201表）寄送中国驻申请人所在国大使馆（总领事馆）转交申请人本人，或直接寄发申请人本人。

APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR
SHORT-TERM SCHOLARSHIP FOR
TEACHERS OF CHINESE LANGUAGE FROM ABROAD

The Short-term Scholarship Scheme for the Teachers of Chinese Language from Abroad was set up by the Ministry of Education of China to sponsor overseas full time teachers of Chinese language, with a view to improve their Chinese language teaching skills and to facilitate the cooperation and exchange in the field of Chinese language teaching among scholars from different nations. China Scholarship Council  (hereinafter referred to as CSC) administers the recruitment and routine management of the scheme.  

There are 100 scholarships for the academic year 2006/2007.

Application

The applicants may apply for the scholarship through Chinese Embassy or Consulate in their home country or directly apply to CSC. The deadline for the application is April 30th, 2006.

Eligibility:

1.  Applicants must be non-Chinese national, be in good health and under the age of 50.

2.  Applicants must be engaged in teaching Chinese for at least three consecutive years and hold the teaching post at the present.

3.  Applicants must have obtained Bachelor’s degree or above.

Details of the Scholarship

1. exemption of tuition fee, fee for basic learning materials and accommodation.

2.  provided with free emergency medical care service.

3.  provided with a one-off living allowance, the standard is CNY 2,000 yuan

4.  expenses for Teaching-Tour(outside Beijing) organized by the admitting institutions: The institution will bear the expenses of teachers’ transportation fees, accommodation and meals.

 Time of Short-term Courses and Host Institutions

Host institutions: Beijing Language and Culture University, Beijing Normal University

The courses will be conducted from July 7^th to August 18^th, 2006 including

-- 4 weeks of classroom instruction (July 7^th to August 5^th)

-- 2 weeks of teaching tour outside Beijing (August 6^thto August 18^th)

Course Arrangements and Teaching Tour

1.  Course arrangements: The course contents include the phonetics, grammar and lexicon in teaching Chinese as a second and foreign language, related teaching contents and methodology, the teaching of oral Chinese, listening comprehension, and reading comprehension, the theory and approach of classroom Chinese teaching, Chinese upgrading courses, lectures on Chinese culture, teaching practice.

2.  Teaching-Tour: A two-week teaching tour will be arranged by the host institution after the classroom instruction:

The route for Beijing Language and Culture University this year will be: Beijing—Xi’an (Shaanxi Province)--Chendu (Sichuan Province)—Jiuzhaigou, fairyland in Sichuan---Wolong Panda Reserve---Dujiangyan Irrigation System ---Giant Buddha of Leshan —Beijing

The route for Beijing Normal University this year will be: Beijing—Anyang (Henan Province)—Zhengzhou---Kaifeng---Luoyang---Dengfeng----Xi’an(Shaanxi Province)—Beijing

Application Materials

The applicants must fill in and provide the following materials truly and correctly(in duplicate).

1.  Application Form for Short-term Scholarship for Foreign Teachers of Chinese Language (printed by CSC), one original, one photocopy, have to be filled in Chinese.

2.   Highest diploma (notarized photocopy). Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations(notarized photocopy) in Chinese or in English.

3.   Two letters of recommendation by the president of the institution or professor engaged in Chinese teaching respectively. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or in English.

4.   Documents of being at post of Chinese teaching; documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations(notarized photocopy) in Chinese or in English.

5.   Study plan written in Chinese (no less than 400 words).

Applicants are supposed to submit the above application materials to CSC via the Chinese diplomatic missions which will transfer them by April 30th 2006.

 Approval and Notification

CSC will review the application materials before forwarding them to relevant institutions for admission. CSC will send the Confirmation of Short-term Scholarship for the Teachers of Chinese Language from abroad, Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW 201) to the relevant Chinese diplomatic missions by June 15^th, 2006 so as to have these documents forwarded to the awardees.
